Flu Season

FLU VACCINE: Flu vaccines are currently available for children of all ages with private insurances, so we are currently scheduling flu vaccine appointments. Please call either office if you'd like to schedule your child's flu vaccine.

FLU SEASON IS COMING! Help keep your kids healthy by teaching them how and when to wash their hands, and help keep other kids healthy by letting your child stay home when they are sick, especially while they have a fever. The flu vaccine is still one of the best and safest ways to prevent influenza and will likely help the illness not be as severe if your child does come down with it. You can visit the AAP's flu information site at healthychildren.org for how to recognize the symptoms and how to help your child feel better.

Please note that, despite the media's attention, the medication Tamiflu is only indicated for high risk patients (asthma, diabetes, cerebral palsy, under age 2 years, etc) in certain situations and within 48 hours of symptom onset. Tamiflu has many side effects and is not appropriate for everyone. You may call our office during business hours for Tamiflu questions or refer to the guidelines from the AAP above, or always feel free to call anytime with urgent questions about the flu or if you feel your child is very ill.
